CNY is going to be over soon.. 3 more days to go... so fast..

haiz.. February is so short and time is flying as usual..

had almost the same routine for CNY for day 1 and 2.. day 3 is usually a day for friends if there is a public holiday.. had lots of fun through out these 3 days.. something different is that i had my brother to 'shield' me off from questions like, "got bf le?", "when will you bring ur bf for us to see?".. haha.. (thanks gor~ keke..) cos most of my relatives are asking my bro, "when are you holding dinner?", "when are you holding wedding?", "do we need to save up for ur wedding le?" etc etc.. hahaha.. heng for me.. hehe.. but next yr i wont be so lucky.. unless i managed to find one be4 that.. haha..

for this CNY, i had eaten 2 reunion dinners on the eve's eve and eve of CNY respectively.. then so far i had also eaten steamboat thrice, yusheng four times and of course lots of goodies.. so fattening lo.. i have decided to go on diet! really..!! must be determined liao.. cos during this time, saw a few ppl who are used to be chubby but now slim down alot liao.. so envy.. i must be determined!! jiayou~ BUT this diet shall start right after the whole CNY period ends, ie 1 Mar.. so now, i still got 3 more days to enjoy as much as i can.. wahahahaha.. anyone wants to join me? lol...

as we enter the year of tiger, this means that we r going to be a quarter-century old liao.. sob sob.. getting old liao.. really feel the age coming.. i keep forgotting things; cannot remember things well; feeling tired easily; dont have the amount of energy i had in the past.. haiz.. is it also becos i m working now? working really tired ppl out.. both physically and mentally =(

k la, got to go back work liao..
just ended 2 projects.. rushing to complete them.. now i need to start another one right after these 2.. sianz.. no time to breath
=(

I went for Yu Sheng workshop today during lunch hour!

Anyway, this is a workshop on how to make vegetarian yu sheng. It tasted very different from the one sold outside as this is more natural, healthier (esp during CNY period where most of us will consume a lot heaty snacks and meats), fresher, and last but not least, you feel very satisfied at the end of the day eating your own made dish. Hehe.

Oh, we didn’t get to make our own, all we did was to watch the demonstration by the teacher, and tasted the final product. Haha. It was very delicious, crunchy and I like the sauce very much.

Overall, I think it is quite easy to do BUT it is very time consuming. Well, at least to someone who is a novice in cookery? Lol.

In case you are interested in making one yourself, here’s the ingredient list from the workshop (all are in strips/shredded form unless mentioned otherwise):

Main
- Baby lettuce (crunchier than normal lettuce; can also use buttercup lettuce)
- Persimmon with skin (choose those harder ones for crunch)
- Apple (buy those crunchy apple, preferably without wax on the skin as we are eating the skin too.) – To prevent from oxidation, you can sprinkle some lemon juice after the apple is being cut into strips.
- 豆苗 (I forgot the English term, the teacher also mentioned Dou Miao only. Haha.)
- Alfalfa sprouts (can get this from larger supermarket)
- Red carrot
- Japanese cucumber (do not use the seed areas as there are lot of moisture inside. Just cut the outer area together with the skin into strips)
- Local cucumber (can add this if u find that Jap cucumber is not enough as this is bigger in size. Same thing, do not use the seed area.)
- Chestnuts (buy those covered with soil ones, as these are fresher than those being ready washed ones)
- Abalone: can get vegetarian or actual. Note that if you are getting the vegetarian abalone, please steam it for 5mins before slicing. [This replaces the raw slice fish]
- Beetroot: better to get organic beetroot as it is much sweeter. (To cut this last as it will stain the chopping board red.) To marinate with lime juice, sugar and salt for 5-10mins for better tasting.
- Pomelo: to choose one with pinkish flesh and has thicker skin as this is sweeter.
- Oregano/Coriander (for garnishing)
- Cherry Tomato (optional)

- Readily chopped almond nuts: can get from Phoon Huat or large supermarkets [This replaces the peanuts]
- Black and white sesames: to fry them in pan or toast them for awhile to bring out the fragrant (don’t add oil when frying wor!! Hehe..)
- Pineapple cubes: can buy those ready packs from Phoon Huat or use fresh pineapple. Please rem to dice them into small small cubes and dry them well.
- Potato chips: Kettle Brand – lightly salted. The reason of using this instead of the normal crackers as this brand has its potato chips baked, not deep fried.

(Ps: this list is just a guide. You can put other kinds of vegetables or take out any of them. Just bear in mind. Do not add in ingredient that is too moist as this will affect the overall crunchiness. If die die must add, rem to drain them well. Lol.)

Sauce *most important*
- Lemon juice + lime juice + fresh mango (diced finely) + red plum juice (can get from Phoon Huat) – can add honey/sugar if they are too sour.
- Ginger shreds (a little): can get those pink ginger (those seen in Jap restaurant) or normal ginger (don’t get old ginger cos I rem my mum told me old ginger is spicer)
- Sour Plum Powder (a few pinches)

Assembling
- assemble the main ingredients in the formation you like. Haha
- throw in the nuts, pineapple cubes, chips and sesame seeds at the end of assembling. Preferably to grind the sesame seeds before adding to the dish as this will enhance the fragrance.
- pour over the sauce
- add in the ginger shreds and sour plum powder
- Finally, add the garnish.

The teacher mentioned that it is better to use ceramic knife to cut the vegetables as compared to the stainless steel knife. Cos it’s sharper and there is no metal smell on the vegetables. (I agreed!)

See the list of ingredients? The teacher has mentioned that hand cutting of the ingredients will give a better overall tasting than using machines/tools like the shredder to cut. So, for a novice like me, I think I will need the whole day to prepare. Haha.

Damn, I hate this feeling.

Being nice to ppl is good, but being too nice is not always the case.

I’m not talking about back-stabbing in this case; my dear colleagues (of same level and a few from sup level) are nice. I’ve once said that one of the reasons for staying in this company is that I have nice colleagues, really. If anyone leaves here someday, I guess, the rest of us will start to leave this place one by one.

I just hate myself for being too nice sometimes, end up making myself feel miserable. How to change this stupid character of mine? Sometimes, I think I am being too soft, too naïve, too stupid to think that this world is perfect; all are very nice and kind in nature. 好天真啊。。I have sidetracked.

I don’t understand why I like to give in most of the times. I hate it! But somehow I cannot control myself to stop giving in. Feel so fed up. Grrrr…

There are many major and minor cases. Major cases – can’t remember and don’t wish to remember. Minor ones are really very minor, can don’t bother to mention. But I simply cannot tahan this liao!

My team consists of 3 ppl – sup, buddy and myself. My sup has mentioned before that my buddy and I cannot take leave on the same day together, as we need to cover each other if one is absent, except for unexpected cases like 2 on MCs or 1 on MC, 1 on Leave. K fine, what can we do? Sup already gives out such order le.

Last year CNY, my buddy wanted to take leave as her hubby had asked her to take together with him. I wanted to take also, cos I remembered last year, we have to start work on the 3rd day. Usually my 2nd day of CNY is very hectic, so naturally, I would like to take leave on 3rd day. But since my buddy is taking leave cos her hubby has asked her to, so I gave in and let her take. I cham siong-ed with my sup, so in the end, I managed to take leave for the morning.

This year, the history repeated. Zzz. I simply don’t like her hubby. He is such a male chauvinist. My buddy told me that her hubby has been reminding her to take leave on 17 Feb. Note the word “reminding”. I really doubt so; I think it’s more of ordering. Her hubby is kinda well-known for being 大男人 in our dept. Haha. I know I am being evil to bad-mouth him, but I simply cannot tahan. Sometime in Jan, I asked my buddy if she is going to take leave on 17th cos I most probably will be taking, she replied that there isn’t any intention, now that when I want to apply leave for that day, she told me this. Now what? =(

As some of you know, our company has this birthday leave policy, my buddy’s birthday falls on 12 Feb, and so she is not working on that day. So I am thinking, since she is going on leave since Friday (12th), can she not to take leave on 17th? In case you are wondering, they are not going oversea during CNY period and the hubby has always wanted her to take leave to accompany him whenever he takes leave (huh?? I understand the desire to spend time together, but I think this is a bit extreme). At most, he will bring her out to celebrate her birthday on the actual day. (Her hubby is not the romantic type, FYI)

So, me being a nice colleague give in to her and let her apply leave on 17th. I hate myself. Why can’t I insist all the way? End up making myself feel grouchy and miserable. Idiot me. I am not angry with my buddy. I am just angry with myself, and her hubby. =(

Hmph… Enough of complaining. It’s time for lunch. Cya.

Oh btw, can you guys do me a favour?
Help me point out my weaknesses k? can let me know through msn/email.
thanks =)

eh.. will I be talking to the air? got ppl read my blog de? hurhur.. haha..
