=Hokkaido Day 4: Asahikawa - Sounkyo=

If I never remembered wrongly, we woke up later than other days as the itinery for this day was very relax. Along the long journey to the first stop, there were many nice sceneries, though mostly are mountains. Haha. But the trees on the mountains and how the roads were built linking mountains to mountains and normal plain land winding up to the mountains were magnificent. These people are really genius.

Views from bus along the way

First stop - fox wildlife reserve

Initially, we should be heading down to the lavender field. But it was not ready for us yet (local guide scammed us. Zzz). So Mr. Tour guide inserted this new schedule to replace the flower field, since it was also on the way to the next stop.

no flower field nvm, cos flowers can be seen everywhere here (even outside the reserve along the road). Lol.

It was super cold here as it was somewhere on the middle of a mountain. And that morning was quite cloudy and windy. (Even our tour guide wore 2 layers, one of which is those thich one. Lol) I wore a tank top with a long-sleeved cardigan initially as the weather was quite warm before set off. But here, with an additional normal sweater, it was still not enough to keep me warm. (I should have brought along the long jacket bought in HK from home!)

Inside this place, before we entered the wildlife reserve, there was this mini fox temple. Our tour guide told us that Japaneses like to pray respect to almost every living thing, like fox, crow, snake etc. interesting~

The fox statue is quite cute. Wonder whether it is a real specimen or not. Oops.

Once we entered the place, a little fox immediately ran to us, seeking for food(we can buy food from the keeper to feed them). By right at that time, most foxes should be sleeping since they were nocturnal animals.

This is the little fox which came running to us. It seemed to have some kind of skin diseases. It kept following us, totally not scared of humans.

Look at the fur around this sleeping fox. Think it was their shedding season then.

There were other foxes lying and sleeping around, outside the cages. As long as we don't disturb them, they were harmless to us.

Basically, I think this place is not a must to include in the itinery. =p Because most foxes are sleeping and there is nothing much to see apart from the foxes. Zzz. (K la, maybe the timing is wrong. Lol). But at least it was better than letting us stayed in the hotel for a longer time.

Lunch time~
It was beside the wildlife reserve. I think it's from the same owner. Lol.

Lunch was so similar to what we had eaten previously. Lol. Anyway, the sweet corn was so sweet~

Deep-fried salted taste muachee. It became very salty when I was finishing it. I need water!!

Second stop - Sounkyo Valley
We were here to see 2 (out of 5) natural waterfalls - Milky Way waterfall and Shooting Stars waterfall.

we were in the red box area

Milky Way waterfall:

Part of the river

Mini waterfall in between the 2 grand ones

Shooting Stars waterfall:

Personally I prefer the Milky Way one. The water flowed as if it was silk running down the mountain. Keke.

Bought this vanilla cum blueberry ice cream while waiting for the free and easy time to end. Lol.

seeing there was still time, so we decided to climb this long staircase to see the 2 falls from a higher view. Only managed to climb till halfway since time was up soon and it was very tiring!

I almost camouflaged with the plants. Lol.

The 2 majestic falls~

After this, we were brought to our hot spring hotel! It was 1+pm (Jap time) when we reached and that was the end of the journey for that day! Very early right?!

Our hotel located at an area of hotels, trees and mountains. We were warned not to wander off in the night as there were bears.

Our room got tatami again, but this time we were given bed to sleep instead. The view outside our room was bad, so sad that we got this carpark view.

So sweet of them to arrange the necessity for hot spring on each bed~ All we need to do was to wear it and bring the plastic bag (face towel +toothebrush inside) along with a bath towel~

We went for hot spring at around 2+pm. There wasn’t anybody inside. So shiok! As if the 2 of us had booked the whole hot spring area. Lol. But after sometime, our group members joined in and it turned out as if our tour group had booked it. Lol. Anyway, the hot spring here was better as it was bigger and there were indications of temperature. We didn’t try the outdoor one as the water seemed dirty. Haha.

After that, it was free and easy time again till our dinner time in the hotel. Nothing to do as there was no internet access, no convenient stores outside (since this hotel was located at the mountain area). So we went back our rooms to take many photos of us in the yukata and the jacket! Lol.

I prefer this yukata too. It is nicer than the previous one. Hee. Oh btw, the green tea was nice~

Once the shot was finished, we ate some biscuits as we had quite an early lunch. Dilly-dallying for sometime, we changed back to our clothes and went exploring the hotel. Time wasn’t flying at that time. We waited ages for dinner! Zzz.

Dinner was in buffet style. There were many people waiting outside the restaurant for it to open at 6pm (ie 5pm here). So when the doors were opened, everyone flooded in. Conclusion from this dinner, I ate a lot eggs (got chawamushi, steamed, poached etc) and tried beef teppanyaki here. The dinner was just normal Japanese buffet with some international dishes, so no photos were taken.

After dinner, we went back to our rooms to rot. My bro and I stayed to watch an interesting documentary show on meerkats. After the show, we felt so boring. So we went to the mini arcade and table tennis area. Some obasans were playing with the table tennis, so we went ahead with the arcade. But this didn’t kill much of the time. So we decided to join our parents with most of the group members in the lobby to chit chat. Had fun listening to stories from the elders~ (everyone is older than me there. Lol)
